  • 1 Oven Preheated to 350°F (175°C)

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour Can substitute half with all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda Ensure it's fresh for best results
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon For warm aroma
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg Optional, can experiment with cardamom

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 large Eggs Can substitute with flax eggs for vegan option
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Can reduce amount or use coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Use pure extract for better flavor
  • 1 cup Medjool Dates Chopped, can substitute with Deglet Noor dates
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts Walnuts or pecans recommended

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven

  • First things first, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your date nut bread bakes evenly and rises beautifully.

Prepare Your Ingredients

  • Gather all your ingredients: whole wheat flour, chopped nuts, baking soda, eggs, vanilla extract, brown sugar, and spices. Having everything ready makes the process smoother.

Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and spices. Whisk them together until well blended.

Combine the Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and chopped dates. Mix until everything is well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula until just combined.

Add the Nuts

  • Fold in the chopped nuts. You can also add chocolate chips if you’re feeling indulgent!

Prepare the Loaf Pan

  • Grease a loaf pan with butter or cooking spray. You can also line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Pour the Batter

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.

Bake

  • Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 50-60 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Cool

  • Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
